Shulou(Shulou.com)06/03 Report--
This article will explain in detail how many bits of binary values make up the IPv4 address. The content of the article is of high quality, so the editor will share it with you for reference. I hope you will have some understanding of the relevant knowledge after reading this article.
The IPv4 address consists of 32-bit binary values.
Related introduction:
Internet Protocol version version 4, also known as the fourth version of Internet Communication Protocol, is the fourth revised version in the process of Internet protocol development, and it is also the first widely deployed version of this protocol. IPv4 is the core of the Internet and the most widely used version of the Internet protocol, followed by IPv6. Until 2011, when the IANA IPv4 address was completely exhausted, IPv6 was still in the early stages of deployment.
IPv4 is described in IETF's RFC 791 released in September 1981, which replaces RFC 760 released in January 1980.
IPv4 is a connectionless protocol that operates on a link layer that uses packet switching, such as Ethernet. This protocol does its best to deliver packets, meaning that it does not guarantee that any packet will arrive at the destination, nor does it guarantee that all packets arrive in the correct order without repetition. These aspects are handled by upper layer transport protocols, such as transmission control protocols.
IPv4 uses 32-bit (4-byte) addresses, so there are only 4294967296 (2) addresses in the address space. However, some addresses are reserved for special purposes, such as private networks (about 18 million addresses) and multicast addresses (about 270 million addresses), which reduces the number of addresses that can be routed on the Internet. As addresses continue to be assigned to end users, the problem of IPv4 address exhaustion arises. Address structure reconfiguration based on classified networks, classless inter-domain routing and network address translation significantly reduces the speed of address exhaustion. However, on February 3, 2011, after the last five address blocks were assigned to five regional Internet registries, IANA's main address pool had been exhausted.
These limitations stimulate the deployment of IPv6, which is still in the early stages of development, which is the only long-term solution.
About how many bits of binary values constitute the IPv4 address to share here, I hope the above content can be of some help to you, can learn more knowledge. If you think the article is good, you can share it for more people to see.
