In the end, Apple added a frequently needed feature for iOS 13 smart home users-- storing HomeKit video securely in iCloud, and choosing the privacy addition feature of the router.

Saving your home security video in iCloud means that the video will be locally encrypted in your home and then sent to Apple's server, making it inaccessible to anyone, including Apple. Apple will provide you with a 10-day recording window, which will not be included in your iCloud storage limit.

It will provide a single camera for 200GB iCloud storage plans and up to five cameras for 2TB iCloud storage plans for free.

Logitech, Eufy and Netatmo cameras will all support this cloud storage feature at the time of release, and other features will be added in the future.

Some of these cameras will also transmit your streaming media to your own cloud servers, so Apple is adding routers for HomeKit to protect streaming media. Service providers such as Eero, Linksys and Charter Spectrum will be the first to provide support.
