Installation of Ubuntu 18 Server

Since the kernel of Ubuntu system is close to the latest version, it happens that the container era popular in recent years requires the kernel to be relatively new. So this time I wrote a tutorial for installing Ubuntu Server. System image download address cn.ubuntu.com/download---> Download Ubuntu Server Edition, select LTS, LTS is a long-term support version!

2. This installation environment is performed in VMware ESXI, and can also be installed in other virtual environments.

Environmental preparation

1. Enter the VMware ESXI console interface and select the virtual machine in the left window.

2. Virtual Machine---> Create/Register Virtual Machine

3. New Virtual Machine----> Select Create Type----> Create New Virtual Machine----> Click Next

Select a name and client operating system type

5. Choose to provide storage functions for virtual machines----> It is best to provide multi-point storage space for virtual machines

6. Customize the virtual machine configuration, define the specific configuration and storage space of the virtual machine you want, and select the ISO file for the data storage, provided that the image file needs to be transmitted.

6-1 After the final configuration, display your final defined information, if you are not satisfied with the configuration, you can go back to modify your configuration information.

system installation

1. After the previous preparation environment is ready, start Ubuntu 18 and enter the system installation interface.

5. Configure network settings---> Select network card device---> Configure ipv4 network

5-1 After entering, the default display is DHCP automatic access address, here changed to manual, manually configure a static address

5-2 The static address configuration interface is as follows. After configuration, select save to save.

5-3 After static address configuration, return to the home page of network configuration interface and select done.

6. Configure the proxy address. Do not fill in this section first. Skip the subsequent configuration on the command line interface when necessary.

7. Configure the mirror repository address. This default can be modified later.

8. Partitioning the hard disk---> The default is to use the entire hard disk, that is, the system to partition you---> Choose manual partitioning here

8-1 Here, create/boot / swap /data four partitions. The following operations can be performed in this order

8-2 Create swap partition, swap partition for memory 1-2 times can be

8-3 Create root partition size to 40G

8-4 Finally, create a data partition. If the size is not filled, it is regarded as all the current space. Select other to manually add a mount point.

9, prompt you finally according to your latest partition of the disk partition to perform, the previous data to format, ask if you want to perform this operation.

10. Configure the system name and user password when logging in to the system

11. Configure the ssh-server interface. In this interface, you need to install the openssh server, otherwise you cannot use ssh to connect remotely after the subsequent system is installed.

12. Install the common service interface, but do not install what services are required to be installed manually. Install a pure version of the system first.

13. After the above settings are configured, the next step is to officially install the Ubuntu system. This step only needs to wait for the installation to complete, and then restart the machine.
