The good news is that the Skype for Business Server 2019 public preview is here. The final generally available version will be released by the end of this year. This version is suitable for laboratory testing, not production.

SfBS local user voicemail is routed to Azure cloud voicemail, which can then be delivered to Exchange Online or Exchange Server. This is important for those who migrate to Exchange Server 2019 because Exchange Server 2019 does not have a Unified messaging option. If your Exchange team is migrating to 2019 and you want to continue using the SfB server, you will be forced to migrate to SfB Server 2019 to maintain voicemail functionality. SfBS 2019 still supports sending voicemail to Exchange 2013 or Exchange 2016

Cloud auto attendant

Auto attendants are depreciating from Exchange 2019 servers, and SfBS 2019 now supports cloud auto attendants

What XMPP gateway is missing-rarely used, so it's unlikely to be missed by many people for a lasting chat-some niche customers will miss it, but most people won't use it. SQL mirroring support. Skype for Business Server 2019 supports AlwaysOn availability groups, AlwaysOn failover clustering instances (FCI), and SQL failover clustering methods. In-place upgrade-SfBS must be deployed side by side with the existing installation on the new server

Mobility Services (Mcx)-support for mobile services used by traditional mobile clients. All current mobile clients use Unified Communications Web API (UCWA), so this should not be a big problem

Unsupported tools

The following tools will not be available in the initial version of Skype for Business Server 2019:

Skype for Business Server capacity Planning Calculator Skype for Business Server Debug tools Skype for Business Server Resource Kit tools (some tools will be removed) call Parkometer to find user console unassigned number announcement migration

Skype for Business Server 2019 does not support the following tools:

Call quality method Dashboard Microsoft Call Quality Methodology Scorecard,v1.5Skype for Business Server 2015 Planning tool Skype for Business Server 2015 pressure and performance tool system requirements

Standard Edition: 6 cores, 2.4 GHz / 32 GB RAM / 8 or more 10000 RPM disks or SSD / Gig NIC

Front end of SfBS Enterprise Edition: 6 cores, 2.4 gigahertz / 64GB RAM / 8 or more 10000 RPM disks or SSD / Gig NIC-large bumps in RAM are recommended, but why is not clear.

Edge server, independent mediation server and controller: 6 cores, 2.4 gigahertz / 16 GB RAM / 8 or more 10000 RPM disks or SSD / Gig NIC / one pair of Gig NIC for Edge

Windows Server 2016 (does not support legacy operating systems), does not support Windows Server 2019

Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Enterprise 2017 (64-bit version), you must run with the latest updates and AlwaysOn availability groups.
