Shulou(Shulou.com)05/31 Report--

On Wednesday afternoon, Discord experienced extensive outages, leaving many users unable to connect to communications applications. The outage began at around 2:45 EDT, preventing users from joining calls or text chats. "We are currently investigating a wide range of API disruptions and are working to resolve this issue as soon as possible," the official Discord Twitter account said. However, the problem has now been resolved because the account tweeted "it is time to fully restore connection now" at 5:19 EDT.

Discord is widely used by the game community and currently has 150 million active users per month. The latest outage seems to have affected most users, and even problems connecting to the service have been widely reported.

In a message from the Discord client, the company said:

We have identified the root problem of the API outage, but are dealing with a secondary issue on one of our database clusters. We have an entire standby response team online and responding to questions. After the interruption, a message posted on its status page said: "We have completely lifted all rate limits and Discord has almost returned to normal." It also states, "[o] in the next hour, some Discord servers may continue to see problems using slash commands to interact with robots. As part of solving the event, we need to reduce the load on the database, and we shut down some parts of the slash command system."

The last time there was a brief outage in Discord was in November, when Google Cloud problems caused problems with communications applications. This latest downtime is marked as a "major outage" on the Discord status page, and it is clear that it has taken most users' services offline completely.

For the past few years, Discord has been quietly building its own robot-based application platform and plans to release new application discovery features in the spring. Robots are an important part of the Discord experience, and more than 30% of Discord servers use them.
