According to a recent report by Omdia, the iPhone XR and iPhone 11 are recognized as the world's best-selling smartphones in 2019. Counterpoint Research agrees with this conclusion and today released a list of the most popular devices in each region.

IPhone completely dominates the North American market.

For years, Apple has been the leading smartphone maker in North America. But today's equipment list shows that with the further consolidation of the market, the Cupertino giant has become more and more popular recently.

The IPhone XR is the best-selling smartphone in North America in 2019. It has proved to be very popular with customers, accounting for 12% of smartphone purchases in the year.

Then there is the newer (and cheaper) iPhone 11, which has gained 6 per cent market share in the region, even though it has been sold for less than four months. Counterpoint hasn't made any predictions yet, but it looks like the iPhone 11 will be the most popular device this year.

In North America, the third place is iPhone 8, with a price of $449 and a market share of 5 per cent. Considering that the phone was launched in September 2017, it was absolutely impressive. This may be good news for the upgraded iPhone 9. It is expected to go on sale next month for $399.

IPhone XS Max and iPhone 11 Pro Max ranked fourth and fifth respectively, with a market share of 4 per cent and 3 per cent, respectively. These results prove that there is still a strong appetite for high-end iPhone models with large screens.

Samsung and Apple lead the European market.

Last year, the European market was dominated by Apple and Samsung, according to Counterpoint Research. This may be due to the renewal of the business strategies of the two brands, and Huawei's business in the region continues to decline.

Samsung's Galaxy A50 is the leader in sales across Europe. It made its debut in March and, although sold for only nine months a year, still accounts for 5% of all smartphone shipments in the region.

In second place is the world's best-selling smartphone, the iPhone XR, with a market share of 4 per cent. The second is its successor, iPhone 11, which shipped 3 per cent of its shipments in Europe last year.

Samsung ranks fourth and fifth with its budget of Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A40. Despite fierce competition in this field, they both achieved a good market share of 3% in 2019.

Oppo, Vivo and Huawei have the best-selling mobile phones in China.

There is no doubt that this is a completely different story. In terms of number, Huawei is the most popular smartphone brand in the region, but only one smartphone has made it into the top five, the Huawei P30, with a market share of 2%, ranking fifth.

The smartphone ranks fourth and third, with a budget of 2 per cent and Vivo Y93 market share, respectively. The higher price is the Oppo A9, which accounts for 3 per cent of the market.

The most popular smartphone is the Oppo A5. It accounts for 4% of all smartphone shipments in the region and successfully squeezed rival Xiaomi out of the top five after topping the list 12 months ago.

Samsung won the championship in other parts of the world.

Samsung controls the Middle East and Africa. In descending order, it occupies every position in the top five of Galaxy A10, Galaxy A2 Core, Galaxy A50, Galaxy A20 and Galaxy A10.

On the other hand, the situation is similar in Latin America, although Motorola, a subsidiary of Lenovo, has made it into the top five. The GalaxyA10 is once again the most popular model, followed by Galaxy J2 Core, Moto E5 Play, Galaxy A20 and Galaxy J4 Core.

The last global region is the rest of the Asia-Pacific region, with the top five including a variety of equipment. Oppo A5s tops the list with 3 per cent market share, followed by Galaxy A50, iPhone XR, Galaxy A10 and Realme C2, each with 2 per cent market share.
