1 Creating an Oracle database using the Database Configuration Assistant tool

Step 1 Operation window

There are 4 options A Create Database B Configure Database Options C Delete Database D Manage Templates

Step 2 Database template window

There are 3 options A General Purpose or Transaction B Custom Database C Data Warehouse

Step 3 Database IdentificationIn this step, you need to enter the global database name and Oracle System Identifier (SID)

The global database name is the unique identifier of the Oracle database, so it cannot duplicate the name of an existing database.

When you open an oracle database, you start an Oracle instance. An instance is uniquely identified by an Oracle system identifier, distinguishing it from any other instance on that computer.

By default, the global data name has the same name as SID, which is assumed to be orcl

Step 4 Manage Options Window

The default option is to configure the database using Enterprise Manager and manage the database using Database Control.

You need to create a default listener using Net Configuration Assistant before you can use Database Control to manage databases

Step 5 Database ××× Ming

For security reasons, you must specify a password for the SYS SYSTEM DBSNMP SYSMAN user in the new database.

You can choose to use the same password for all accounts, or you can set the commands for these four users separately.

Step 6 Location of database files

Users can choose the storage type of the database here, including:

File system: Use file system for database storage

Automated Storage Management (ASM) simplifies database storage management, optimizes database layout, and improves I/O performance. You must specify a set of disks to create an ASM disk group or an existing ASM disk group to use this option

Oracle provides the following two database connection patterns

Dedicated database mode: The database allocates dedicated resources for each client connection, use this mode when the total number of client connections is expected to be small, or = clients want the database to make requests of long duration

Shared server pattern: Multiple client connections share a pool of database allocated resources. Use this pattern when a large number of users need to connect to the database simultaneously and efficiently utilize system resources.
