Windows server2008 R2 is a relatively new Windows server operating system of Microsoft, which aims to help organizations reduce operating costs and improve production efficiency, and provide enhanced management control over the resources of the whole enterprise. It is designed to provide higher energy efficiency and performance by reducing power consumption and management costs. It also helps improve efficiency and new remote experiences in the branch office.

Steps:

1. Insert a 2008 CD first.

2. Open the command line and enter the D partition where the CD is located.

3. Run the command to upgrade the forest function and domain function architecture of the 2003AD domain

4. Transfer the operation host to 2008

5. 2003AD is downgrading.

Lab step: search the CD for adprep files

1. Enter the D partition where the CD is located first.

2. Run the system in the CD

Cd sources\ adprep. The following tips are for you to upgrade the forest and domain functions of 2003AD to win server 2003. Because the default is win 2000. (enter AD domain and site to promote manually)

3. Press C key after promotion, and press enter key to continue

4. Command:

Adprep.exe / forestprep upgrade forest level

The appearance of this indicates a successful promotion of the forest.

5. Next, upgrade the domain function level command:

Adprep.exe / domainprep promoted successfully

6. Command: adprep.exe / domainprep / gpprep

Update permissions for Group Policy objects

7. Update AD's support for RODC read-only controller

Command: adprep.exe / rodcprep

It is suggested that an error is normal. Don't worry about it.

8. Add 2008 to the domain of 2003, and the DNS of 2008 points to the IP address of 2003. Configure the IP address first, run the command dcpromo to join the extra domain controller of 2003, and change the DNS of domain 2008 back to yourself after the installation is complete.

9. Then transfer the 5 operating hosts of the 2003 domain to the 2008 domain. Run the regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll command on 2003

10. Running mmc

11. In File-add or remove snap-ins, add AD schemas to mmc

12. Right-click to change AD domain controller in AD architecture

(enter the hostname of 2008)

And change the operation host

13. Transfer domain naming host. In AD domain and trust relationship, right-click to connect to the controller.

Select the operation host and change the operation host

14. Transfer three operating hosts among AD users

Connect to the domain controller first

Right-click the domain name to select the operation host

Select change (this is the address after the change)

At this point, all the five operating hosts on 2003 are transferred to 2008, and the next step is to uninstall the domain of 2003 and delete the 2003 computer name on 2008.

15. Run dcpromo to uninstall AD

Just click on the next step here.

Just wait for the deletion to complete.

16. Delete 2003 of the computers here

At this point, the step of upgrading the AD domain from 2003 to 2008 is complete.
