Individuals tend to use open source, just personal habits, no particular reason. Two were tried: syncthing and seafile. Why these two? It just so happens that the two software are of different types. Syncthing is P2P synchronization software, where everyone has to share their own files, while others choose to synchronize these files. And seafile is similar to Baidu Cloud personal storage, there is a public server, the use of habits is more in line with ordinary people. So there's a little difference between the two.

For individual users, it can actually meet the needs, but after the trial, seafile deployment is a little more troublesome, but user-friendly, and syncthing does not have an ios client (for his wife), because it has to be used for family members, so, so it is decided.

Install Seafile

Because I installed a debian-like system, I copied the installation manual of the official website.

According to general experience, I decompressed it directly and then went in to install it. As a result, the installation script was a bit of a pit, and I installed the program directly to the next level of directory. If you have other files in your higher directory, it will look a little messy. If there happens to be a file or directory with the same name, it may be overwritten. The last two commands are to start the service. By default, ports 8000 and 8082 are listening, and port 8000 is connected to the web and the client. Use 8000 when you configure the client.

All in all, it's pretty simple.

Finally, in order to be accessible on the public network, port mapping is set on the router. Both 8000 and 8082 should be set. In this way, you can access it on the public network. Of course, if your ISP does not assign you a public network IP, it will not work. In that case, install seafile on your entire VPS. Of course, it should be OK to use ssh tunnel reverse proxy to come back. My router is bound to DDNS, so it can also be accessed by domain name.

Use

Visit the web interface and you're done. Click on the icon on the top right to see Settings, and you can choose a language (Chinese). Mine has been cut through, so let's find it for yourselves. By the way, set the administrator's mailbox and password before entering. After entering, you can also select "system Management" to add other users. It may be OK for users to sign up on their own. I haven't tried yet.

First try with andrond, look for seafile in the application market. After opening it, select a third-party server, and the address will write your server's http://[IP/ domain name]: 8000. Then log in with your mailbox and password. Feel for the rest on your own.

With regard to file sharing, a group can be set up in seafile, so that users in the group can share it, which is very convenient. For example, family members send photos and videos from their phones to a directory for centralized storage, and it is also convenient to deal with them at that time.
