Earlier today, Nintendo reported net sales of 1.695344 trillion yen ($13 billion) for the year ended March 31. Down 3.6% from the same period last year. The company's operating profit reached 592.76 billion yen ($4.5 billion), down 7.5% from a year earlier. As for net profit, the company was about 477.691 billion yen ($3.7 billion), down 0.6 per cent from a year earlier. Nintendo's earnings per share were 4046.69 yen ($31.11), compared with 4032.6 yen ($31) a year earlier. Nintendo Switch sold 4.11 million consoles between January and March.

This brings its total shipments to 23.06 million units in the fiscal year, just in line with expectations of 23 million units. However, total shipments in the current fiscal year fell 20% from a year earlier, which Nintendo said was due to a shortage of semiconductors and other components.

Since its release in March 2017, Nintendo Switch has shipped more than 107.65 million units, surpassing its own Wii console, but a far cry from NDS's 154.02 million.

In terms of games, 235.07 million copies were sold in the last fiscal year, up 1.8 per cent from a year earlier. "Mario Racing 8 Deluxe Edition" topped the list with sales of 4533 million copies. Pokemon: al Zeus made a strong debut last quarter and has sold 1264 copies so far.
