As the term hybrid cloud implies, cloud computing now requires hybrid human skills. If IT professionals have never dealt with an on-premises infrastructure, then all cloud computing certifications may not make them a hybrid cloud expert.

IT professionals need to consider their hybrid cloud career development or want to be a hybrid cloud talent from a leadership perspective, in terms of specific skills, not specific positions. In related areas such as DevOps, this will be a hot position, which is not necessarily suitable for the "hybrid cloud", which needs to be across industries and related to a wide range of roles in IT.

1. Automation, configuration management, and infrastructure as code

Hybrid and multi-cloud environments introduce new operational considerations and complexity. Automation is a key part of the most successful strategy for achieving hybrid cloud goals and benefits, while reducing complexity. It can be thought of as an umbrella for more specific requirements, such as scripting and automation of application configuration or enterprise infrastructure environments.

Angove points out that from a recruitment perspective, long-term IT security requirements are also necessary, if not more, in hybrid cloud environments.

"Enterprises need people who can provide the right protocols for hybrid cloud environments to ensure that anyone connected to or working in the cloud complies with the organization's compliance rules." "Security is currently the top concern for most organizations, and they are looking for professionals who can help secure the hybrid cloud," Angove said.

6. Database management

Angove also said that cloud-oriented databases have attracted a lot of attention. "IT people have database management skills and need to be able to process data and understand cloud-based data warehouses, such as NoSQL, and there is a high demand," he said.

7. Focus on the future: containers, microservices, etc.

As in emerging areas, IT professionals need to have the following skills as they move forward:

Containers and choreography, especially Kubernetes

Micro-service architecture

Set up and use continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline

Internet of things architecture design, including edge computing

Serverless computing

Building skills and experience in these areas (or some of their combinations) may be a good choice for hybrid cloud environments for the foreseeable future.
