I. prohibition of private records
By default, Vista records 15 documents that users have recently viewed, which may contain sensitive information about users, and even ordinary documents we do not want others to know about our recent document operations. An experienced voyeur can click on the start menu and then see the user's recently opened document under recent projects. (figure 1)
We can clear the item by right-clicking on the document name and selecting "Delete", but this is too troublesome and needs to be cleared frequently. In fact, we can set it through group policy to prohibit the system from recording documents that users have recently browsed, which can be described as once and for all. Open the "start" menu in the "search" box, enter gpedit.msc to run Group Policy Editor, and then click "user configuration → management template → 'start' menu and taskbar", find "do not retain the history of recently opened documents" on the right, double-click to open, set to "enabled". Or we can simply double-click to open the remove recent items from the start menu set to enabled, so that the item is deleted from the start menu. Similarly, enabling the clear recently opened document History when exiting the system group policy item automatically clears the document record when the system logs out / restarts / shuts down. In addition, similar to the above, Vista will display the most recently run programs in the start menu by default, which will reveal the user's usage habits to some extent. Therefore, we can also set clear recent Program list for New users to enabled in the current Group Policy entry.
2. Clear private information
Vista will record the user's operation records on its own, including system-related history, network-related history, start menu history, and other software history. Below, the author talks about the removal of these historical records respectively.
1. System correlation
(1)。 Recycling bin
Users tend to put useless data files in the Recycle Bin and ignore them. By default, Vista's Recycle Bin does not remove junk files directly, so malicious users can restore files through the Recycle Bin. In order to prevent the resulting privacy disclosure, we can set it. Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop and select Properties, and then click do not move files to the Recycle Bin. Delete the file immediately after removing it, and uncheck the Show Delete confirmation dialog box. In this way, the file will not enter the Recycle Bin and will be deleted directly from the hard drive, similar to holding down Shift and then deleting the file when deleting the file. However, it is important to note that you must be careful when deleting the file at this time and make sure that you really want to delete the file. (figure 3)
(2)。 Clipboard
When we do copy / paste / cut / paste /, the operating system temporarily puts the data you cut or copy into the clipboard, and when we need to use it (such as performing paste), it will be grabbed from the clipboard. If you just copy some sensitive information at this time, it will be stolen by others. Therefore, we must clear the contents of the clipboard before leaving the system temporarily.
Because the clipboard can only store data once at a time, the back will squeeze out the front, so it is very easy for it to release space. You just need to casually perform the action of "copy" and "copy" one or two words. The data that used to take up a lot of memory in your clipboard was squeezed out by the words coming in behind.
(3)。 Registration form
The registry records the location of the last time we accessed the registry, which is automatically located when the registry is opened again, which also reveals the user's operation information to some extent. In fact, we can disable these functions of the registry by setting. Click the start menu, enter regedit to run the registry editor, navigate to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Applets\ Regedit key, delete the LastKey key to the right of it, and then select the Regedit key, right-click and select "permissions" to cancel the access rights of all users in the list, so that the registry will not record the last access record.
