SCSI hard drives are very expensive computer peripherals, so please be very careful when handling them. Install the hard drive in a built-in manner:

Most of the hard drives bought from the market are built-in hard drives, only some manufacturers will sell the more advanced SCSI hard drives with external boxes, which will become ready-made external hard drives. If you feel that your computer chassis has good heat dissipation and there is spare space, you can leave the money for the external box and connect the SCSI hard drive directly to the computer chassis.

To install the hard drive into the chassis, you need some tools to help, and you need to prepare at least the following two things:

1, cross cone: the hard disk and SCSI interface card all need to be fixed on the chassis with screws, so these tasks must be completed with the help of cross cone.

2. Sharp-nosed pliers: you must use sharp-nosed pliers to unplug and insert the Jumper on the hard disk to set the ID of the hard disk, the terminal resistance switch, and so on.

Prepare all kits:

When installing the SCSI hard drive in a built-in way, prepare the following accessories:

1. SCSI hard disk: of course, this is an absolutely indispensable protagonist.

2. SCSI interface card: unless your motherboard has built-in SCSI interface, it is absolutely necessary to prepare a SCSI interface card; in addition, the matching of SCSI interface card and hard disk is also very important, please use it in accordance with the SCSI specifications of the hard drive. If you use a Fast SCSI interface card with a Ultra-Wide SCSI hard drive, it will be fine (you can use a conversion head), but the speed and channel width will lower the standard for long Fast SCSI.

3. SCSI cabling: SCSI built-in cabling is divided into 50-Pin Single-Ended, 68-Pin Single-Ended and 68-Pin LVD. Please identify which kind of cabling your SCSI hard drive must match.

4. Screws: used to fix the hard disk and the SCSI interface card, the two specifications may not be the same!

Installation steps:

Before you install the SCSI hard drive, please take a look at the whole process:

Hard disk Jumper setting → fixed interface card and hard disk → to connect the hard disk with the interface card → to connect the hard disk power

Then we can start installing SCSI hard drives on the chassis!

1. Adjust the SCSI hard disk Jumper (jumper): the Jumper on the hard disk can be used to set SCSI ID, terminal resistance, Parity Check, and so on.

2. Insert the SCSI interface card on the motherboard: insert the SCSI interface card into the correct slot on the motherboard, and confirm whether it is inserted correctly; then use the cross screws and screws to secure the interface card.

3. Fixed hard disk: fix the hard disk on the chassis fixed frame.

4. Connection and arrangement: use cable to connect the SCSI interface card and the hard disk. 68-Pins Wide SCSI is a special trapezoidal connector, so there is no trouble of reverse connection.

If you are installing a Narrow (50-Pin) hard drive, please note that the red part of the 50-Pin cable should be aligned with the hard drive or the Pin-1 of the interface card.

5. Plug the cage back into the chassis and connect the power: determine whether the hard drive in the cage has been installed, and then plug in the power cord of the hard drive.

So far, there is generally no problem with the installation of the hardware. Please check whether the SCSI interface card, cable and power cable are connected correctly; if everything is confirmed, you can turn on the mainframe and see if the SCSI BIOS display on the screen can find the model of the SCSI hard drive. After startup, the SCSI BIOS screen appears, and the SCSI hard drive is found, indicating that the hardware is installed correctly!
