Anyone who is careful will find that the IIS component of the windows system actually includes the ability to set up a FTP site. Building an IIS FTP server is not very complicated and easy to operate, which is similar to building a website with IIS, in which the concepts such as virtual directories are consistent with those in the website.

The first step: through the taskbar "start-> all programs-> Administrative tools", and then under it to find Internet Information Services (IIS) manager, open the manager will find that at the bottom of a "FTP site" option, we are through it to build IIS FTP server.

Step 2: the IIS FTP site has a default FTP site by default. All we have to do is put the resources in the FTPROOT folder in the inetpub directory under the system directory. For example, if the system is on disk F, just put the shared resources in the f:\ inetpub\ ftproot directory. Users will see the resources placed in this directory when they log in to the default FTP site.

Step 3: if we do not want to use the default settings and default path, we can modify it by right-clicking on the default FTP site and selecting New-> FTP site.

Step 4: in the launch of the FTP site creation wizard, we can customize the relevant settings of the FTP server, click "next" and then continue.

Step 5: give the IIS FTP site a name, which is set to soft's FTP.

Step 6: set up an available IP address for this IIS FTP site, choose the actual address, if you are not sure, you can also choose "all unassigned", so that the system will use all valid IP addresses as the addresses of the FTP server. At the same time, the port on which the FTP server opens the service is also set here, which is 21 by default.

Step 7: next is the FTP user isolation settings, where the Chinese help information is very clear. If you choose not to isolate users, then users can access other users' FTP home directories, while users who choose to isolate users cannot access directory resources with each other. In addition, AD quarantined users are mainly used for corporate network use of AD.

In most cases, the company does not have AD, and users need to be isolated for security reasons, so we chose the second option, "isolate users."

Step 8: select the home directory of the IIS FTP site, which we can modify to default to the FTPROOT folder in the inetpub directory under the system directory. Use the Browse button on the right to set it to another directory, such as "D:\ manuscript".

Step 9: then set user access rights. There are only two permissions for us to set, which are "read" and "write" in turn. We can set them according to the actual situation.

Step 10: complete the setup of the IIS FTP site. Of course, if there are problems of one kind or another during the establishment process, detailed information will be given in the setup wizard, which can effectively help us to troubleshoot the problem.

Step 11: we go back to the internet Information Services (IIS) Manager again and click the right mouse button on "FTP of softe" under the FTP site to select launch to open the FTP.

Tip: if the prompt shown in figure 21 appears in the actual use, it means that port 21 of the current local computer has been occupied by other services or programs, then we need to modify the newly established FTP and set its service port from 21 to other ports that are not occupied by the program.

The method is to click the right mouse button on the IIS FTP name and select "Properties". Add an unoccupied port number, such as 33, at the TCP port under the FTP site identity in the FTP site tag, and complete the modification setting after confirmation. Select "start" with the right mouse button again and it will take effect.
