In the past, our method was to copy the dll and addin files to disk C. This is troublesome, and it is not easy to upgrade and maintain the plug-in. We use the method of installing the package to install and uninstall the plug-in and enhance the user's sense of experience. Today, the editor explains how to make an installation package:

1. Click the extension update in the Visual studio toolbar, click online, search installer, download and install the installer projects tool.

Drag the required installation files (dll,addin), including icons, into application folder. Click the application folder on the left and drag the installation file into it. Here, the editor puts the icon and dll file in the folder revitsetup, and then drag this folder into it, which will look more tidy.

4. Modify the system to 64 bits. We are now using 64-bit systems, so we can change the TargetPlatform to 64.

5. Modify the default installation path because we need to put the addin and dll files in the path C:\ ProgramData\ Autodesk\ Revit\ Addins\ 2016, so we need to copy and paste the above address in Defaultlocation. Our default installation location will be modified here.

6. Turn off the user's right to select the installation location and delete the installation path page (to prevent errors caused by the user modifying the installation path)

The specific location is the → editor → user interface. Delete the installation folder in the user interface.

In this way, the user will not be able to customize the installation path, and the installation content will be in our given c disk path by default.

7. Click build solution and two installation files will be generated

One of the following files will call the above EXE file to install, so you can send the EXE file directly to the user, this is the installation package we made. Take a look at the effect: double-click the installation package and the installation page appears
