January 17, 2022: January 17, Beijing time, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) auctioned the 5G spectrum of the 3.45GHz band, and AT&T became the highest-invested operator with US $9 billion.

This mid-frequency band is considered ideal for wireless companies to transmit faster 5G signals in cities and suburbs. The entire auction raised $22.5 billion, including $2.9 billion for T-Mobile and $7.3 billion for Weminuche LLC.

Some analysts believe that Weminuche LLC is bidding on behalf of Dish, and the FCC documentation also implies this. Cellular invested 580 million dollars.

FCC revealed that more than 1/3 of the top 100 markets have at least four bidders, a wider range of competitors than before.
