One of AIP (Azure Information Protection): enabling and activating services
AIP Azure Information protection (Azure Information Protection), also known as Azure RMS Azure Rights management (Azure Rights Management), is a cloud-based information protection solution that helps organizations classify, tag, and protect their documents and emails. That is, ADRMS's cloud solution (those who have used RMS should know the specific functions of RMS, so I won't elaborate here). To put it simply, ARRMS is the local RMS,AIP (ARM) is the RMS on the cloud!
This article begins with a brief introduction to how to activate AIP to protect enterprise sensitive information and data!
First of all, because AIP is based on Azure, there must be Azure AD, which can be a stand-alone AZURE AD or an integrated environment of Azure AD and local AD forest.
Support for clients:
Computers
The following computer operating systems support Azure Rights Management services:
Windows 7 (x86, x64)
Windows 8 (x86, x64)
Windows 8.1 (x86, x64)
Windows 10 (x86, x64)
MacOS: minimum version is macOS 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
Mobile Devic
The following mobile device operating systems support Azure Rights Management services:
Windows Phone:Windows Phone 8.1
Android phones and tablets: minimum version of Android 4.4
IPhone and iPad: minimum version is iOS 8.0
Windows tablets: Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 8.1 RT
Support for O365: subscriptions above O365 E3 are required to support AIP, as shown below:
Then, to enable AIP subscription separately, if not, you can apply for a trial. Currently, O365 users in Asia Pacific can apply for a 30-day trial for 25 users (Azure Information Protection Program 1 trial version), while European users can apply for a 90-day trial for 250 users (Enterprise Mobility + Security E5 Trial), so if you want to try this feature, it is recommended to choose O365 in Europe, with more features, longer time and more users!
There are two ways to activate the Azure Rights Management service: Azure Portal/O365 Portal!
Enable AIP in Azure Portal:
Log in to the Azure portal as the global administrator of the tenant or as the security administrator. Find more services, AIP
Find "Protection Activation" and click activate
Wait a few minutes and you can see "Activation completed successfully"
If it is already activated, you can see that the status is "activated" when you enter this interface.
Enable AIP in O365 Portal:
After registering the Office 365 plan with Rights Management, log in to Office 365, which should have the global administrator role for the Office 365 deployment. In settings, services, and add-ins, find "Microsoft Azure Information Protection"
Click "manage Microsoft Azure Information Protection Settings" again
Re-click activate in the new pop-up window
Confirm if you want to activate Rights Management
Wait a moment and you will see that the status is "Rights Management activated"
