Master the function and principle of port mirroring (SPAN) of switch equipment, and master configuration instructions and usage.

Users can use the function of port mirroring (SPAN) to copy the messages of the designated port to another port connected with network monitoring equipment on the switch for network monitoring and troubleshooting.

IV. Contents and steps of the experiment

In the figure above, the source port number is 5 and the destination port number is 10. The destination port (also known as the monitoring port) is used to receive a copy of the message from the source port. In a SPAN session, the user can monitor the input and output messages of one or more source ports. The source and destination ports can belong to the same VLAN or to different VLAN.

The specific steps are as follows:

Step 1: configure session 1 with source port 14 and destination port 15, which will monitor the incoming and outgoing data of port 14

Step 2: test the monitoring effect of port 15

Step 3: unconfigure SPAN in step 1

Step 4: test the monitoring effect of port 15 again

If you repeat the test steps in step 2, monitoring will not be possible.
