Default: 2*logbufsz

This variable specifies the size of the alternate log receive buffer in log pages. If this variable is not set, DB2 uses twice the size of the primary logbufsz configuration parameter as the backup receive buffer size. The maximum size that can be specified is 4 GB. This variable should be set in the standby instance. The master database ignores it.

If the HADR synchronization mode (hadr_syncmode database configuration parameter) is set to ASYNC, then in the peer-to-peer state, a slow standby database may delay the send operation on the primary database and thus block transactions on the primary database. A buffer larger than the default log receiving buffer can be configured on the standby database to hold more outstanding log data. This allows the primary database to generate log data faster than the standby database to use it in a very short period of time without blocking transactions on the primary database.

Note:

A larger log receiving buffer helps to bear the peak transaction load on the primary database, but if the average playback speed on the standby database is less than the record speed on the primary database, the buffer will still be full.
