(1) mailbox (mailbox role): mainly responsible for storing mail-DAG

(2) CAS (client access role): mainly provides interfaces for users to access exchange (MAPI, HTTP, POP3, IMAP)

(3) HUB (Hub Transport role): mainly responsible for mail transmission

(4) Edge (Edge Transport role): receive and send internet mail, anti-spam

(5) UM (Unified messaging role): send voicemail, voice reply.

Note: the exchange server is working properly and at least three roles are installed. (mailbox,hub,cas)

Mailbox,hub,cas,um can be installed on a server, while the Edge Server role must be installed on a separate server.

Mailbox,hub,cas,um 's computer must join the domain, and the Edge Server role must be installed on a workgroup's computer.
