In the previous chapter, "Exchange 2016 deployment implementation case-03.Exchange deployment (part I)," we briefly explained the prerequisites for deploying Exchange Server 2016, and then we moved on to the prerequisites preparation.

Prerequisite preparation

When it comes to prerequisites, let's take a look at how officials take us step by step to prepare prerequisites for Exchange Server 2016.

First of all, if we open the link above, we can see that it is roughly divided into the following steps. Before we begin, what do you need to know?

Let's take it one step at a time. First, let's take a look at "what do you need to know before we begin?" after clicking on it, we can see that it requires that the forest function level of our domain is at least 2008, and that the patch of our server must be updated and the domain added.

The above mentioned to join the server to the domain, this part I will not demonstrate the steps, in detail, you will add the domain operation

Active Directory preparation

After reading above, let's take a look at what AD needs to prepare, as shown in the figure:

According to the screenshot above, we can see that the preparation of AD is divided into three steps:

1. Install .net 4.7.1

2. Prepare AD and domain

3. Install management tools

Let's take it one step at a time, first we install .net 4.7.1 on the Exchange server, and I won't write the step, which is the next step along the way:

Next, we prepare for AD. We first open the link in the screenshot, and we can see the following information:

Before doing this step, we need to install and complete the administrative tools, as shown in the figure:

Let's start with step 1, "extend the AD schema."

1. Unpack or mount the Exchange Server 2016 installation media to the Exchange server, open CMD as an administrator, and change to the Exchange installation directory.

2. Refer to the link and use the commands in the link to extend the AD schema

3. At this point, our first step is complete.

Next, let's move on to step 2, "prepare Active Directory."

1. In the same operation, mount the Exchange installation media, open CMD as an administrator, and switch to the installation path

2. Refer to step 2 in the link and use the command in the following screenshot to prepare the AD operation. The green area in the picture is to let us enter an organization name. The default name is "First Organization".

Here I will install it with the default name, as shown in the figure:

3. At this point, our first step is complete.

Let's move on to step 3, "prepare the Active Directory domain."

1. In the same operation, mount the Exchange installation media, open CMD as an administrator, and switch to the installation path

According to the following figure, we can see that the preparation of the necessary components of the system is roughly divided into the following three steps:

1. The server component is ready to copy the command in the screenshot between us. The official default is that there is no-Soure. In the actual environment, we need to add this parameter and specify the path.

2. Restart the server

3. After reboot, we install the patch mentioned above.

According to the above series of actions, our prerequisite preparation work is finally over, and the prerequisite installation of the second platform can be carried out according to the above, but there is no need to run the three commands of the AD extension.
