Understand how spanning Tree Protocol works

Master the basic configuration method of Rapid spanning Tree Protocol RSTP

Technical principle:

Spanning Tree Protocol, which provides redundant backup links in a switched network and solves loop problems in a switched network

Spanning Tree Protocol uses SPA algorithm to generate an attribute network without loop in the network with switch loop, and uses this algorithm to logically disconnect the redundant backup link of the switching network. When the main link fails, it can automatically switch to the backup link to ensure the normal transmission of data.

Spanning Tree Protocol versions: STP, RSTP, MSTP.

The protocol of spanning tree has a long convergence time. It takes 50 seconds from the failure of the primary link to the switch to the backup link.

Rapid spanning tree adds two port roles on the basis of spanning tree protocol, replacing port or backup port as root port and designated port respectively. When the root port or designated port fails, the redundant port does not need to go through 50 seconds of convergence time, and can be directly switched to the replacement port or backup port, thus achieving the fast convergence of RSTP protocol less than 1 second.

The steps of the experiment:

Create the topology diagram shown in the figure

Set the ip of PC1 PC2 separately as shown in the figure
