The talk command allows two users on the same host or on different hosts to have an interactive conversation. The talk command opens the send window and the receive window on each user's monitor. This allows each user to enter in the send window when the talk command displays what another user is entering.

Syntax format: talk [parameters]

Common parameters:

The user account that person prepares to talk to. If the user is on another machine, you can enter person@machine.namettyname. If the user has more than two tty connections at the same time, you can choose the appropriate tty to send messages.

Reference example

Talk to the current user Rollaend on the machine:

[root@linuxcool ~] # talk Rollaend

Wait for the Rollaend response. If you accept it, enter `talk jzlee` to start the conversation, and press ctrl+c:
