The luminous efficiency of the fluorescent lamp of the LCD TV is as high as 30~100lm/W, and the luminous efficiency of the CCFL backlight of the large-screen LCD TV is up to 50~60lm/W, which is more than 20 times that of the plasma. But after being assembled into the display screen, the total utilization rate of backlight is only about 5%, which is far less than the power saving imagined.

Response speed

Because the LCD TV controls the passage of light through the rotation of the liquid crystal in the LCD panel, and the rotation of the liquid crystal needs a reaction time, there will be a lag phenomenon when the screen shows the state of motion, that is, what we call tailing. The lag time of liquid crystal rotation is the response speed. With current technology, the average LCD TV is between 16 and 25 milliseconds, as fast as 8 milliseconds. But 8 milliseconds still can not completely overcome the trailing phenomenon, especially in the big action screen, you can still see the liquid crystal. Plasma glows directly, so this problem does not exist.

Life problem

Usually, the life index of liquid crystal and plasma refers to the time when the brightness drops to half, rather than the average fault-free time. Due to the use of phosphors on CRT, the early plasma lacks the ability to resist ultraviolet rays produced by plasma discharge, which results in rapid aging and short life. However, a new generation of long-life and high-brightness plasma phosphors have been commercialized, and their lifetime has more than doubled.

In general, the update cycle of TV sets is relatively long, and many consumers have been using it for 10 years continuously. At present, the service life of backlight tubes for TV sets has reached 50,000 to 60,000 hours, which can fully meet the long-term use requirements of consumers.
