About the ccmcache folder size:

I received an email alarm when I went to work early in the morning, indicating that the C disk of the OA system was out of space and the utilization rate was more than 85%.

Checking the usage of C disk files, it is found that ccmcache occupies 7.4G of space.

Ccmcache is the cache folder used to download patches when sccm clients update, storing temporary patches, drivers, and other downloaded software on a computer or mobile device. Clearing ccmcache removes outdated software and information, frees up system space, and helps eliminate any harmful malware. Note, however, that clearing the cache may affect your personal information and password settings that you previously saved in your CCM applet.

Checked on the Internet, the contents of the ccmcache folder can be deleted and modified to free C disk space. The methods are as follows:

1. Open the Configuration Manager program of the control panel

2. Select "Cache"-- > Click "configuration Settings", and the following dialog box appears

3. Click "change location", browse to the new location (such as "D:\"), and make sure. The following dialog box appears. Clicking Y will clear the original ccmcache folder and change the storage path to the new location. You can also click to delete files and clear ccmcache without changing the location.

4. The modified path is D:\ ccmcache

There is no ccmcache folder in the C:\ Windows directory at this point.

The email alarm has returned to normal.

About the Installer folder size:

From the usage of C disk files, you can see that C:\ Windows\ Installer takes up 10.9 gigabytes of space. It is not recommended to delete the files in the Installer folder. Deletion may affect the normal use of some programs and even need to be reinstalled. A safer way to reduce the size of the Installer folder is to compress the Installer folder. The methods are as follows:

1. In Organization-> folders and search options-- > View, unhide protected operating system files and check Show Hidden Files, folders and drives

2. Browse to the "C:\ Windows" directory, right-click "Installer"-> Properties-- > Advanced, check "compress content to save disk space", and make sure. As shown below:

2. Click apply and select OK in the pop-up dialog box.

Properties need to be modified with administrator privileges, continue

Start applying properties to compress the file. The time required varies depending on the number of files. (the 10.9g file took about 10 minutes)

3. After the compression is completed, it takes up 8.26g (2.6G space is compressed).

4. If you need to minimize disk footprint, you can migrate the Installer folder to other disks. Please refer to the method (in non-special cases, it is not recommended to modify it):

Note: make sure that the installation is not running on your computer.

1 >. Copy "C:\ Windows\ Installer" to another disk, for example, D:\ C_DRIVE\ Windows\ Installer

2 >. Make a backup copy of C:\ Windows\ Installer

3 >. Run cmd with administrator privileges and enter the following command:

Rmdir / s / QC:\ Windows\ Installer

Mklink / D C:\ Windows\ Installer D:\ C_DRIVE\ Windows\ Installer

Note: Windows may not allow you to delete the installer directory because some processes are using some files in this directory:

C:\ Windows\ Installer\ {some files} .msi-the process cannot access the file because it is used by another process.

In this case, you can use this link and use Process Explorer to find and stop the process of restricting the rmdir command.
