Here are Six New Features That are Coming To The Next Version Of Android

On March 12, according to Forbes website, Google has released the first developer preview version of Android P. What are the highlights of the new features?

Indoor positioning equipment location

Android P supports IEEE 802.11, the WiFi RTT (Round-Trip-Time) protocol. If the app is able to connect to three WiFi access points, the protocol allows the app to triangulate the device's location within a meter or two. The user's location is invisible to the access point because apps don't need to connect to them to measure distance.

Developers can also develop maps with routing capabilities via WiFi RTT, which can locate users in chaotic indoor environments. Google points out that WiFi RTT technology can also enable location-based voice commands (e.g.,"turn on this light") or information retrieval (e.g.,"find online stores with discounts on this item").

Stronger protection of user privacy

When the app is not running, you will not be able to access microphones, cameras, or sensors that use SensorManager. In other words, the microphone will not receive voice signals, the sensor will no longer report sensing results, and the camera will be disconnected. If an app tries to access the camera, an error message appears. If this feature is implemented, users will not have to worry about background app monitoring or recording audio, video and other information.

Support "Liu Haiping"

For smartphones with iPhone X"bangs," the content display at the groove position is bound to be affected. Android P allows app developers to tweak how content is displayed on these screens, either around or below the grooves.

Information notifications improved

In the message push notification, the sender and mobile phone user's avatar can be displayed, and the mobile phone user can also add pictures when replying. In addition, it also supports intelligent reply function.

The neural network processing function included in the device has been improved

Machine learning on the device eliminates the need to send user data to the cloud for processing. This provides two direct benefits to users. First, neural networks on the device can learn and adapt to the user's operating habits more easily. Second, because the user's operational data does not have to be sent to the cloud, privacy can be better protected. The operating mode of the neural master network, which is learning from all user data, will therefore change. It will read the changing data of the user network instead of letting the data influence the user network and make changes.

Support for HDR

Android P will support HDR VP9 Profile 2. If the device supports HDR, users will be able to view HDR content.
