Shulou(Shulou.com)06/02 Report--

ESXi: installed on a physical server, it is actually an operating system with a linux kernel, and you can create a virtual machine on it only after you have installed ESXi. It can be understood as vmware workstation installed on your desktop.

It's just that ESXi does not have to run on the operating system (because it is the operating system itself) and calls hardware resources directly for the virtual machine.

VSphere: is the general name of a set of vmware products, including vCenter and ESXi and other components, similar to the relationship between OFFICE and WORD. VSphere is actually a Client client that connects ESXI and vCenter, that is:

It is used to connect to ESXI (but only one ESXI can be connected, that is, "one-to-one" management). It can also be used to connect to vCenter servers (after connection, multiple ESXI hosts are added through vCenter for centralized management).

VCenter: client management software used to operate and manage multiple ESXI hosts and their virtual machines, that is, "one-to-many" management, such as monitoring the operation of virtual machines, creating virtual machines, adjusting virtual machine resources, migrating virtual machines, and so on.

Generally speaking:

-install ESXI system (that is, host system) first

-then install vSphere (connect to the client side of ESXI) and connect to the ESXI server through vSphere to create a virtual machine. However, vSphere can only manage EXSI one-to-one, that is, only one ESXI host can be connected (unlike XenCenterr clients, multiple hosts can be added for management, and there is no "add" item).

-then install vCenter with a virtual machine. VCenter can connect multiple ESXI hosts and manage the virtual machines above the host. VCenter can be managed in two ways: the Client client (that is, through the vSphere client connection) and the web side.

ESXI is the underlying layer, vSphere is the connection terminal, and vCenter is the management of ESXI hosts and virtual machines created on vSphere.

To install vCenter and ESXI on two servers, ESXI must be installed on a physical machine, and vCenter can be installed on a physical machine or a virtual machine.

For uninterrupted systems with high requirements, ESXi host + vCenter can achieve zero downtime. The ESXi host is the place to provide running resources, while vCenter is the manager of the centralized scheduling and management of virtual machines.

According to the introduction, two physical hosts are needed to install this system, but now there is only one physical host, so first install esxi6.5, then build a virtual host, install win2008, and then install VMware vCenter Server on this machine through win2008

Who prepares the job?

1. A physical host with high performance and more than 16 gigabytes of memory (esxi6.5 is installed)

2. Build a virtual machine on the installed esxi and install the win2008 system

3. Prepare to install ISO disk, in which there are two versions (vcsa is Linux version of vcenter (built-in database), vim is Windows version of vcenter (want SQL server), we use VCSA version

Start installation

1. Open the image file and select "installer" to open the installer.

How to use embedded "Platform Services Controller" when the whole cluster is not very large

Enter the address, port number, user name, and password of the ESXI host (which esxi host to deploy the system to)

Prompt warning, we know that the certificate is secure, so choose "Yes"

Enter the password of the virtual machine (note: it is not the password to log on to the vCetner Web interface, it is the password of the VCSA host)

Select the deployment size. Please refer to "Resources required for deployment size" in the picture.

Select which storage to install on the ESXI host, and selecting "enable thin disk mode" in the figure will take up disk space in real time. As the data increases, it will take up more and more space. If it is not checked, it will take up all the space suggested above. Click "next" when the selection is finished.

Enter the network, hostname, IP address and other information used by the VCSA host, and click "next" when the input is complete.

Finally confirm the content of the filling, and then click to complete.

In the process of installation, wait patiently for a while, the installation time here is uncertain according to the performance of the host, our machine performance is not very good, the memory is not large, it will take a longer time, wait patiently

Installation succeeded

We're here to log in to the exsi mainframe.

Click to continue or browser https://IP:5480/ configuration installation

Configure the device, and click "next" when the input is complete.

Configure SSO, enter the domain name, administrator password and site name of Single Sign-On, and click "next" when you are finished.

About SSO, you can try Baidu.

Installation succeeded

Next, log in to VCenter Server to manage the host.

Enter the vCenter address in the address bar

Enter the user name and password of Single Singn-On to log in to vCenter Server. Note: login is a little slow here. Wait a little longer.

Build a data center

Add an ESXi host under the data center, such as a host for the previously installed ESXi6.5

After adding the host and waiting for the progress bar to be completed, you can see that all the virtual machines under the ESXi6.5 are listed.

You can operate on this esxi host

You can also operate on a virtual machine.

Installation introduction completed

Summary

With VMware vCenter Server, all hosts and virtual machines in the data center can be managed from a single console, which aggregates the performance monitoring capabilities of clusters, hosts, and virtual machines. VMwarevCenter Server enables administrators to gain insight into all the information about clusters, hosts, virtual machines, storage, guest operating systems, and other key components of the virtual infrastructure from one location.

With VMware vCenter Server, virtualized environments become more manageable and a single administrator can manage more than 100 workloads, doubling the efficiency of managing physical infrastructure.
