Today, we will review, review and compare Samsung's current SATA SSD lineup. Samsung released the 860 PRO and 860 EVO SSD series at the beginning of last year. Both SSD products are very stable, and the 860 EVO has become one of the most popular (if not the most popular) SATA SSD on the market.

At the end of last year, Samsung released the more "money-saving" SATA SSD-860 QVO SSD series, which uses the company's high-density 4-bit multi-cell (MLC) NAND flash memory architecture. At present, we basically have three series of 860 solid state drives to choose from. I often get the question: "which Samsung 860 solid state drive is the best / fastest?" Which is the best value for money? , or "Samsung 860 SSD is best for operating system drivers or game drivers?" .

In this review, we will compare Samsung's 860 QVO with 860 EVO and 860 PRO SSD. We will compare each other's 1TB SSD capacity, because it is currently more popular or commonly used capacity. Each of us has different needs and different budgets. So please continue to check the comments below to see which Samsung 860 SSD series is best for you.

Samsung 860 QVO vs 860 EVO vs 860 PRO SSD Evaluation-function.

Let's first discuss the Samsung 860 PRO SSD series. 860 PRO is currently the company's flagship SATA SSD. It is equipped with Samsung MJX controller and Samsung's 64-layer 3D 2-bit MLC V-type NAND flash memory. Its capacity varies from 256GB to 4TB. The speed of the whole capacity is about the same; the continuous read speed is 560 megabytes per second and the sequential write speed is 530 megabytes per second. The rated speed or total bytes (TBW) is the difference between the PRO series and EVO and QVO. But it's also the most expensive one. Although its warranty period is similar to the 860 EVO series, its TBW has doubled. You can check it from the table below.

Next up is the Samsung 860 EVO SSD series, which is undeniably the most popular solid state drive series on the market. It provides similar or similar performance to the 860 PRO solid state drive series, but at a more affordable price. The Samsung 860 EVO also comes with a MJX controller, but with Samsung's 3-bit MLC (also known as TLC) 64-layer 3D V-NAND flash memory. Its DRAM cache configuration is the same as the capacity of each of the 860 PRO series, but slightly slower. The continuous read speed of 860 EVO solid state disk series is 550 megabytes per second and the continuous write speed is 520 megabytes per second. The durability rating or the total number of written words is also halved. The 250GB capacity of the 860 Evo is only 150TB, while the 4 TB capacity of the 860 EVO is only 2400 TB TBW. However, its 5-year limited warranty is the same as the 860 PRO. This means that compared with the 860 EVO series, the 860 PRO can handle twice as much data, making the 860 PRO a more suitable storage solution for write-intensive applications or settings.

Finally, the newest member of the 860 series is the Samsung 860 QVO SSD series. It uses the same MJX controller to pair Samsung's 4-bit MLC (also known as QLC) 64-layer 3D V-NAND flash memory. It provides only three capacities: 1TB, 2TB, and 4TBDRAM caches are 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB LPDDR4, respectively. It has the same sequential read and write speed as 860 EVO, but compared with the 4KB random read and write speed of 860 EVO, 4KB random read and write speed is quite slow. Most importantly, Samsung's 860 QVO durability rating, or TBW, is almost half of the equivalent capacity TBW provided by the 860 EVO (with a precision of 60 per cent). See the following specifications. Except for the low durability grade, the warranty period is 3 years. The only advantage of 80QVO is price. Compared with 860 EVO, 860 QVO is cheaper, but at the expense of speed.

The Samsung 860 SSD series all uses AES 256bit full disk encryption, TCG/ Opp V2.0 and encryption driver (IEEE 1667); and supports TRIM, garbage collection and SMART.

It is also worth mentioning that both Samsung 860 EVO and 860 QVO use intelligent TurboWrite technology. This greatly speeds up the write speed of the drive during data transfer. However, after the buffer is maximized, TurboWrite exits, resulting in a significant reduction in write speed.
