Serato has become one of the top digital DJ platforms available, and I like its latest Studio software very much, which provides easy-to-use music production tools. In fact, we recommend these two products in this year's holiday gift guide. If you've been thinking, the company has just made some updates to Studio to improve its functionality.

With Serato Studio 1.4, monthly subscription fees are reduced by $10 (less than $15). Now, however, you can also choose to buy the software directly for $200, including all subscription-related privileges. In other words, at least wait until version 2.0 is further released. Even so, you can continue to use the current version, or you can pay for the upgrade instead of the new license to keep it up-to-date (price to be determined). More importantly, Studio 1.4 now has a new audio interface that allows you to import and edit complete songs (or cappella), not just samples of limited length. Finally, this allows you to quickly and easily edit, mix, and mix in the next DJ setting.

The core layout of Serato Studio remains the same, but when launching the application, you can choose between rhythm production or DJ editing environment. In any case, the layout of libraries and tracks is always at the bottom, and you can easily switch from left to right. Beats and new track layouts occupy the top of the screen, which switch vertically according to your track layer. Generally speaking, browsing through all parts on one screen is a very smooth way.

You can import songs from the library by dragging and dropping, but unlike before, you can add the entire song to the song layout. For example, if the track is old disco music and the consistent beat grid cannot be locked, it can be solved with slight adjustments. You can also change the key points or speed of these tracks to get some interesting results.

The track Editor includes a slicer that can cut your audio file into equal segments of up to 64 bars, similar to the scene in Studio, although the maximum length is 8 bars. You can also use the Circular slicer to create clips from the beginning of the clip to the end of the track. In addition, you can drag the cursor to manually shorten the length of the clip instance in the track layout. All of these features make it easy to make simple edits, such as changing the prelude or deleting unavailable parts of the track. This new flexibility of Cerrato Studio is beginning to close the gap between Cerrato Studio and full-featured DAW applications, but more importantly, it has become an incredible DJ editing tool.

Many small updates are scattered throughout the process, including special solo buttons next to the mute function of each instrument or track layer. The cue point will also be placed on the first beat of the track, which can save you extra energy if you like.

Serato Studio 1.4 is now available for download with a monthly subscription of $10 or a direct purchase of $200.
