The 1.08 million pixel Samsung ISOCELL sensor will use pixel classification to generate a detailed 270000 pixel image. Samsung has confirmed that it will announce a new mobile camera sensor on Aug. 12. The South Korean giant's ISOCELL camera division announced on Twitter that it would redefine resolution on the above date. It is widely speculated that we will see a 1.08 million-pixel ISOCELL sensor. In May, Samsung launched a 640000-pixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, which will be used in upcoming Realme and Redmi phones. However, the 1.08 million-pixel Samsung sensor is likely to be used on Xiaomi Mi MIX 4.

The 4 million-pixel ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor has been used in several smartphones launched this year. However, the brand wants to promote smartphone photography and use sensors with higher resolution. Of course, even the new 1.08 million-pixel sensor won't really produce a 1.08 million-pixel lens. Instead, it will use pixel ratings to output 27 million-pixel photos. Pixel grading combines four pixels into one to provide excellent detail.

We really don't know a lot of details about Samsung's 1.08 million pixel sensor, but that shouldn't be a problem after Aug. 12. Details of the sensor size, actual resolution and technology used will be announced at the upcoming event. Bright GW1 sensors and other high-resolution smartphone cameras use four-channel filters. Users can use the Pro mode in the camera app to take 1.08 million-pixel photos, but this is not as detailed as 27 million-pixel photos.

The Mi MIX 4 can be equipped with Samsung's 1.08 million pixel sensor.

Both Realme and Redmi have announced that they will soon launch phones with 640000-pixel cameras. However, Xiaomi also revealed that it will launch the first 1.08 million-pixel sensor using Samsung, which may be carried on the Mi MIX 4. A picture at the press conference shows that the sensor can take pictures with a resolution of 12032 x 9024. Of course, it hasn't been confirmed yet, and we expect to see Samsung launch a 1.08 million-pixel sensor on Aug. 12. If Xiaomi does launch the Mi MIX 4 with this sensor, it will definitely become a beast of mobile phones. We are still a few days away from the release of the new Samsung 1.08 million pixel sensor.
