Environmental Description:

In this experiment, Oracle 11g R2 64bit was successfully installed on RHEL 6.5 64bit system, and the experimental platform was based on VMware vSphere.

1 Creating a Virtual Machine

1) Connect to VMware ESXi host (192.168.0.10) via vSphere Client, as shown below, right-click on host and select New VM (or Ctrl+N).

2) As shown in the figure below, select the custom option and click Next.

3) As shown in the figure below, enter the name (Oracle) to be defined for the virtual machine in the Name column, and click Next.

4) As shown in the figure below, select the target storage (datastore2) where the virtual machine files are stored, select according to your own environment, and click Next.

5) As shown in the figure below, the default selection, click Next.

6) Select the guest operating system (Linux), version (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (64-bit)) as shown in the figure below and click Next.

7) As shown in the figure below, select the number of virtual slots (1) and the number of cores per virtual slot (2), which can be customized according to your own environment. Click Next.

8) As shown in the figure below, modify the memory (4G), which can be customized according to your own environment, click Next.

9) As shown in the figure below, the default selection, click Next.

10) As shown in the figure below, the default selection, click Next.

11) As shown in the figure below, the default selection, click Next.

12) As shown in the figure below, modify the disk capacity (20G), select Thin Provision, disk capacity can be customized according to your own environment, click Next.

13) As shown in the figure below, the default selection, click Next.

14) As shown in the figure below, the default selection, click Done.

The virtual machine was successfully created.
