This series of articles is divided into 14 sections, documenting the manual installation process from the basic configuration to starting the OpenStack instance (of course, there is now an one-click deployment tool).

The OpenStack version used is the latest Train version, which is slightly different from the previous version.

The references are mainly official documents, but there are so many holes in the official documents that they cannot be further built, so this series of articles will fill them one by one.

The network architecture used in this environment is the provider network mentioned in the official document (layer 2 network, without vlan and other functions). Future articles will update the layer 3 network.

Part one: vmware-workstation virtual machine and its network configuration

The software used

This article uses vmware-workstation 15.5, and its virtual network configuration is shown in the following figure:

The network used is the first VMNet0 and the second VMNet1

VMNet0: bridging mode, bridging to the physical network, connecting to the Internet, with a segment of 10.8.20.0ax 24, used as the external network of the instance (that is, the provider network mentioned in the official documentation)

VMNet1: host-only mode, with a network segment of 192.168.10.0swap 24, used as the management network for OpenStack.

Virtual machine configuration

All the hosts involved in this article use vmware-workstation virtualization, which requires two virtual machines, one as a control node and one as a compute node

Control node

CPU:6 kernel

Memory: 6x8g

Hard disk: 200g, single file storage, preferably in ssd partition

Nic 1: host-only mode, connected to the network VMNet1 (192.168.10.Univer 24), used as the management network for openstack, ip address: 192.168.10.41

Network card 2: bridge mode, connected to the network VMNet0 (10.8.20.0), can be connected to the Internet, used to download software packages, etc. Ip address: 10.8.20.41

System: CentOS7-x86_64-1907

Hostname: ct

Computing node

CPU:6 kernel

Memory: 8 gigabytes, depending on the number of virtual machines to run

Hard disk: 200g, single file storage, preferably in ssd partition

Nic 1: host-only mode, connect to the network VMNet1 (192.168.10.Univer 24), connect to the management network of openstack, ip address: 192.168.10.42

Nic 2: bridge mode, connected to the network VMNet0 (10.8.20.0), can be connected to the Internet, and can be used as the external network of the instance. Ip address: 10.8.20.42

System: CentOS7-x86_64-1907

Hostname: C1 (number 1)

Control node virtual machine configuration

Create a new virtual machine in vmware-workstation with the virtual machine name set to ct and store it in the D:\ OpenStack-Train folder (ssd hard disk)

The operating system selects Linux-CentOS7 64-bit, cpu is set to 6 cores, memory is set to 12G, hard disk 200G, do not immediately allocate space, store in a single file, delete printer sound card and other unnecessary hardware, adjust its network card configuration, the final configuration is shown in the following figure:

Control the virtual machine configuration of the node, pay attention to its network card configuration, network card 1 is connected to the VMNet1, and network card 2 is bridged to the physical network card.

As you did above, set up another virtual machine named C1, and its configuration is as follows:
