To get to work, first delete the previous Gaim sudo apt-get remove gaim gaim-data and then install the pidgin-data package: sudo apt-get install pidgin-data package name and then install the pidgin package sudo apt-get install pidgin package name here may prompt the loss of *. Lib.so and so on. And then it stopped. It doesn't matter. It says there's nothing left. You can download and install it with apt. Ubuntu is as simple as that.
