If you forget the Console login password, the user can set the new Console login password in two ways:

Reset if you can log in through telnet:

1. Log in to the switch through STelnet/Telnet to set the new Console login password

The premise of this method is that the user has a STelnet/Telnet account and administrator privileges. The following command line and echo information take the STelnet login device changing the Console port password as an example. After the user logs in to the switch through the STelnet account, follow these steps to configure it.

a. Take the authentication method of login user interface as password authentication, the password is Huawei@123 as an example, and the configuration is as follows.

[HUAWEI] user-interface console 0

[HUAWEI-ui-console0] authentication-mode password

[HUAWEI-ui-console0] set authentication password cipher Huawei@123

[HUAWEI-ui-console0] return

b. Take the login user interface as AAA authentication, the user name is admin123, and the password is Huawei@123, as an example, the configuration is as follows.

[HUAWEI-ui-console0] authentication-mode aaa

[HUAWEI-ui-console0] quit

[HUAWEI] aaa

Clear the login password of Console port through BootROM

The BootROM of the switch provides the function of clearing the login password of the Console port, and the user can change the login password of the Console port after the switch is started, and then save the configuration. Please follow the steps below to configure.

Connect the switch through the Console port and restart the switch. When the following print message appears in the interface, press the shortcut key "Ctrl+B" in time and enter the BootROM password to enter the BootROM main menu.

Frame switch print message:

Press Ctrl+B to enter boot menu... 1

Password: / / enter the BootROM password (admin@huawei.com)

Description:

Some models of the box switch support the use of the shortcut key "Ctrl+E" to enter the BootROM main menu, please follow the prompts in the interface of the device.

For cartridge switches before V100R006C05, the default password for BootROM is the version of huawei; at and after V100R006C05, and the default password is Admin@huawei.com.

In pre-V100R006C00 versions of frame switches, the default password for BootROM is 9300; in V100R006C00 and later versions, the default password is Admin@huawei.com.

b. Under the BootROM main menu, select "Clear password for console user" to clear the Console login password.

c. According to the prompts of the switch, select "Boot with default mode" to start the device under the BootROM main menu.

d. After completing the system startup, no authentication is required when logging in through the Console port. After logging in, follow the system prompts to configure the authentication password.

e. After logging in to the switch, users can configure the authentication mode and password of the Console user interface according to their needs.
