About Juniper EX4200 switch

The Juniper EX4200 switch is a compact, fixed-configuration solution that can be easily deployed in campus installations and in 1 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) access environments in the data center. The set × × switching technology can be used to connect up to 10 EX4200 switches to each other to form a single logical device, providing a perfectly scalable solution for expanding campus installations. Juniper EX4200 switches support 10/100/1000BASE-T and 24-port and 48-port configurations, and available uplinks include 4-port GbE or 2-port 10GbE copper or fiber configurations, including configurations with and without Media access Control Security (MACsec).

There are 4 1GbE or 2 10GbE optional modules on each Juniper EX4200 switch, which can form a virtual backplane to achieve the stacking function of the switch, and the stacked switch can be managed as a unit device. In general, there are three types of uplink modules for Juniper EX4200 switches:

SFP uplink module

The following figure shows the SFP+ uplink module / SFP+ uplink module with Media access Control Security (MACsec) feature, providing four 1G SFP ports or two 10G SFP+ ports.

It should be noted that when the SFP+ uplink module / SFP+ uplink module with Media access Control Security (MACsec) feature is running in 10G mode, only 10G ports (port 0 and port 2) are available and can only be plugged into the SFP+ optical module; when the SFP+ uplink module / SFP+ uplink module with media access control security (MACsec) feature is running in 1G mode, all four ports can be used, but only the SFP optical module can be plugged in.
