There are two ways for xmanager to connect to an AIX server:

1. Connect to the IBM server and use the remote desktop function for system maintenance.

It is required that the server has installed a graphical desktop, such as CDE, and booted to the graphical interface.

In Xbrowser in xmanager, enter the address of the corresponding server.

This situation can be successful only if the server has started the graphical desktop.

2. Run the graphical installation software, connect the running server, and display its graphical interface. Such as installing oracle, running dbca to build library, and so on.

Step 1: open Xbrowser, enter the ip address you want to log in to the server in the address bar, and press enter. Do not close the pop-up window yet.

Step 2: telnet to the server, set the DISPLAY to the cost of IP.

Under ksh: export DISPLAY your_ip:0.0

Under csh: setenv DISPLAY your_ip:0.0

Step 3: run the program. For example, dbca, you can see that the graphical interface has been displayed in Xbrowser.

Display error:

XDMCP Connection failed.Try again?

Solution:

No configuration is required on AIX, but there must be a XDMCP protocol. The server is listening on the XDMCP port. The XDMCP server for CDE is

Dtlogin,X Window's own XDMCP server is xdm, and of course GNU also has some other servers. If CDE is installed on AIX, just start CDE. If you do not have CDE installed, you need to start xdm.

The following command confirms that the XDMCP server has been started:

Netstat-an | grep 177

Check the output and confirm that the status is LISTEN. If everything is all right, you can log in using Xmanager.

After installing Xmanager, New a XDMCP in Xbrowser, select XDM query, and enter the hostname or IP in the Host input box

Address, select Apply, then Done, start Xmanager and the graphical login interface will be displayed.

If the XDMCP service is not started, you can start the XDMCP service like this:

Log in to the system using root.

# ps-ef | grep dtlogin # # check whether the CDE desktop is started

# / etc/rc.dt # # launch CDE

# / usr/dt/bin/dtconfig-e # # configure host restart auto-start-e (enable auto-start of dtlogin)

Summary:

1. Set the IP address correctly with smitty tcpip (HOST NAME, ip, network mark, name server, domain server, gateway)

two。 Modify / etc/hosts

3. Change the order of host IP address resolution: add a line to / etc/netsvc.conf: hosts=local, bind, nis

4. Confirm to launch CDE: # ps-ef | grep dtlogin

5. Check port 177: # netstat-an | grep 177

6. Automatically start CDE: # / usr/dt/bin/dtconfig-e

7. Restart the system

8. Connect the ssh port of AIX with Xmanager and there is an error the x11 forwarding request was rejected

9. Enter # / usr/local/etc/sshd_config, find # X11Forwarding no and change it to X11Forwarding yes.

10. If you are connected, you can enter the CDE interface of AIX.
