There are two systems in the environment. DC and DC2, this article transfers the five major roles in DC to DC2.

Using the ntdsutil command on the cmd command line

First, check which server the five roles are on:

> netdom query fsmo

When the primary domain control and secondary domain control are running normally, use Transfer:

> ntdsutil ntdsutil: roles fsmo maintenance: connections server connections: connect to server DC2 / / Connect to the secondary domain controller server connections: Q / / quit to up level and return to the upper level fsmo maintence: transfer naming master fsmo maintence: transfer PDC fsmo maintence: transfer RID master fsmo maintence: transfer schema master fsmo maintence: transfer infrastructure master

The next four roles also select Yes to confirm the transfer.

After the transfer is complete, use netdom to take a look at the servers where the five roles are located.

> netdom query fsmo

Tips:

If the master domain controls the Down. Seize five roles in the secondary domain controller, using the same command above to transfer, except that the Transfer command is replaced with Seize.

Using the Move-ADDirectoryServerOperationMasterRole command in PS

To transfer five roles to another domain controller, run the following command. Where-Identity specifies the secondary domain controller and-OperationMasterRole specifies the roles to be transferred. -force is enforced, and when the primary domain controller Down is off, the-force option comes in handy in the secondary domain controller.

> Move-ADDirectoryServerOperationMasterRole-Identity DC2-OperationMasterRole 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 4-force

By executing the ntdsutil command, you can see that five roles have been transferred to DC2.
