How to import data from CSV files to Analytics Cloud to create models and Stories. For this problem, this article introduces the corresponding analysis and solutions in detail, hoping to help more small partners who want to solve this problem find simpler and easier ways.
Download a csv file for learning from SAP:
https://ownload? deliverable_id=20229442
Drag to SAP Analytics Cloud Home page. When you see the Prepare Model prompt, release the mouse:
Data from local csv files will be uploaded automatically:
A Model is automatically created, Rows1444 rows, 15 columns, including 14 Dimensions and 1 Measures.
The automatically created model, structure and CSV file are exactly the same.
The default dimension type of SAP Analytics Cloud generation model is Generic, which can be manually modified to other types in the drop-down menu.
For example, I changed the dimension type of TimeMonth to Date:
In this way, when the report is used to present data later, different time intervals can be set for the dimension of Date type:
It doesn't matter if the date format in csv is not YMM, SAP Analytics Cloud's Date dimension provides support for common date formats.
csv file has many columns with ID and description information appearing in pairs, such as product ID and product description, Region ID and Region description, Currency ID and Currency description, etc. These descriptions are only descriptions of ID fields semantically, and are not suitable as separate dimensions.
Therefore, we select any ID dimension and maintain its Description field as the description column appearing in csv.
Notice in the image below that once ProductsDescription is set to the description field of the product ID dimension, its dimension icon disappears in Analytics Cloud, indicating that ProductsDescription is no longer a dimension with this setting.
Click on this Rubik's cube icon to see the model details:
Click Data Exploration to switch from detailed model data display view to dashboard icon display view.
Click the Show Dimensions button to select the dimensions in which to generate the chart.
Add Account ID, ProductsID, RegionID, TimeMonth several dimensions in turn,
Click Refresh, and the total revenue of all products will be rendered. Because I haven't selected the specific dimension yet, there is no chart displayed yet.
This total revenue is exactly the same as the sum calculated by the SUM formula in CSV.
Select the dimension ProductsID, and all revenue for each product will be displayed separately:
If both ProductsID and CurrencyID are checked,
Each Product generates multiple histograms, each representing Revenue data for that product in a specified monetary unit. You can also switch the chart type in the drop-down menu:
Some examples of chart types:
