Enter cfdisk, which shows my current disk settings, my virtual machine. I now want to split half from the last logical partition, sda5, which is basically the same as under windows. Please see the screenshot.

Delete the partition first

Press the left and right keys on the keyboard, select new, and confirm

Choose the primary partition or the extended partition. Here I choose the logical extended partition.

Choose the size, unit MB, here must not press the key on the keyboard, otherwise it will return to the first step, remember the above number, that is, the maximum capacity that can be divided, for example, I want to divide this partition into two equal size, just enter 1048 directly. Enter confirmed.

Here, begin or end directly choose begin to start dividing from the partition.

Again, when the second block is finished, select Write to write. Then choose Quite.

Don't worry after you find a mistake, as long as you don't execute Write, you can choose Quite directly without saving and exiting.

All the work is not done, now you can see the new partition here, but not in / etc/dev/, can't mount or anything else, just restart the machine!

If you are not satisfied with the partition format, you can format the partition as ext4 yourself, because the default partition format is ext2.

Mkfs.ext4 / dev/sd5
