Manage multiple ESXi hosts through vCenter Server

Through the introduction of the previous three chapters, we already have some understanding of virtualization, but they are all basic things and have little meaning in practical application. From this chapter, we will formally step into the core of virtualization technology; as time goes on, the knowledge learned will become deeper and deeper.

Join multiple ESXi hosts to vCenter Server

Step 1. Connect to vCentr server with vSphere client

Open the vSphere client; enter the vcenter server IP address or domain name; enter the user name and password; click on the login pop-up security warning window

Click ignore

Since vCenter Server is still in evaluation mode, you don't have to click OK. Click OK to connect with vcenter server.

Step 2. Create a data center

Before adding ESXi hosts, you need to create a new data center, which is a container that contains all the lists needed to operate the full functionality and environment for managing virtual machines; you can create multiple data centers to organize each group environment.

Step 3. Add an ESXi host

You can add ESXi hosts under the data center object, the folder object in the data center, and the cluster object under the data center. "if the host contains virtual machines, those virtual machines are added to the inventory along with the ESXi host."

Select vcenter_DB data Center = > getting started = > add hosts to enter the add hosts wizard

Enter the IP or domain name of the ESXi host; enter the user name and password; click next

If you have a product license key, please enter the key; if not, just use the evaluation version and go straight to the next step.

If you do not configure the lock mode, click next

Click next

Click finish to complete the process of adding hosts, and you can determine the progress of adding ESXi as the task progresses.

Other ESXi hosts are added to v Center Server in the same way as above, so I won't repeat it. At present, the ESXi host I joined can only achieve the function of centralized management, and advanced features such as HA and dynamic resource management can not be realized, because I did not create a cluster or add the host to the cluster before I joined the ESXi host. I intend to make a detailed introduction to the relevant knowledge in a chapter. There is only one knowledge point in each chapter from the following documents.
