After confirming that the new modular Mac Pro will be assembled in Austin, Texas, Apple revealed more details about the operation, including an investment of more than $200m in the plant and how the plant employs more than 500 people.

As part of Apple's announced proposal, the iPhone maker said it had begun building a new multibillion-dollar campus in Austin and revealed the department that produces the new Mac Pro at existing factories in the region. The model is scheduled to be shipped with Pro Display XDR in December, and the factory has received considerable investment and is working hard to install and run and build workstations.

So far, Apple and its manufacturing partners have invested more than $200m in the facility, including a "complex assembly line" created only for Mac Pro. The production line is very long, and the travel distance of each Mac Pro is 1000 feet during construction.

Because of the complexity of the product line, Apple recommends that certain components be placed precisely within the width of human hair to ensure such a substantial investment. The factory itself covers an area of 244000 square feet and employs more than 500 people, including electrical engineers and electronic assemblers who are active in the production line.

The facility is used to build the previous model of Mac Pro, and the construction of the new model is a continuation of its use. Despite rumors that Apple plans to transfer production of the new Mac Pro, Apple has since hinted that it will continue to produce the model.

Apple claims that the growth of its Austin plant, including campus construction, is part of an expansion plan first announced in January 2018, which aims to increase investment in manufacturing, engineering and other jobs. Apple is now expected to hire another 20, 000 people nationwide by 2023, and it is expected to contribute $350 billion to the economy between 2018 and 2023.

Apple CEO Tim Cook and President Donald are expected to visit the factory later today.
