uCareSystem Core is a lightweight utility capable of automating basic system maintenance activities, while on the other hand it can reduce the task of system administrators in a number of ways, saving a lot of time. It does not have any GUI and provides a pure command-line interface to perform activities.

Ubuntu has several utilities to perform system maintenance activities. Each tool has its own unique function and design. You can add a cron task to automate these tasks.

uCareSystem Core automatically refreshes the distribution repository, updates the list of available packages, unloads older packages, orphan packages, and older Linux kernels, and cleans up retrieved packages to save system disk space.

Install uCareSystem Core in Ubuntu/LinuxMint

Because developers provide their own PPA, we can easily install uCareSystem Core in Ubuntu/LinuxMint via PPA.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:utappia/stable $ sudo apt update $ sudo apt install ucaresystem-core

We have successfully installed the uCareSystem Core package, and before executing the CareSystem Core command to see if it saves disk space, check the current disk utilization using df -h.

$ df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on udev 979M 0 979M 0% /dev tmpfs 200M 6.4M 194M 4% /run /dev/sda1 38G 19G 17G 54% / tmpfs 999M 216K 999M 1% /dev/shm tmpfs 5.0M 4.0K 5.0M 1% /run/lock tmpfs 999M 0 999M 0% /sys/fs/cgroup tmpfs 200M 112K 200M 1% /run/user/1000

Just run the ucaresystem-core command in the terminal and it will execute automatically without human interaction before it ends.
