This article is about ESXI5.5 add local disk error solution is what, editor feel very practical, so share with you to learn, I hope you can learn something after reading this article, say no more, follow the editor to have a look.

When adding a 900g hard drive to a virtualized server in esxi5.5, the following error is reported.

This error occurs mainly because the disk has been used and contains the original partition information.

Solution:

First, enable the ssh service in the configuration-> security configuration file. Then use SecureCRT or PUTTY to remotely log in to the EXSI host.

1. View partition information

Ls / vmfs/devices/disks

2. Correspond to the identifier on exsi

3. Use the partedutil tool to see 1 partition, and then delete the partition. (note: FDISK and PARTED are generally used for new and adjusted partitions in LINUX. Fdisk can be divided into a single partition no more than 2T partition, parted command can be divided into a single partition larger than 2T GPT format partition, use the partedUtil command in EXSI to set and adjust the partition.)

# partedUtil delete vmfs/devices/disks/naa.600605b0051527001970471b0e906a8b 1

4. Add the disk again

5. Select a disk

6. Select a file system

7. check the disk layout and complete

8. Added successfully.

Attached: reset partition size

Resize the partition

The partedUtil command can be used to resize existing partitions on ESXi/ESX version 4.0 and later. This does not resize the file system within the partition, which is no different from deleting and recreating the partition with a new start or end sector.

To resize the partition, run the following command:

PartedUtil resize "/ vmfs/devices/disks/DeviceName" partition number NewStartSector NewEndSector

Example: to move partition 4 so that it starts in the same location (for example, 2474073) and ends in the new end sector (1234567890), run the following command:

PartedUtil resize "/ vmfs/devices/disks/mpx.vmhba0:C0:T0:L0" 4 2474073 1234567890

Note: apart from creating a new partition table, there is no tool that can undo changes to the partition table. Make sure you have a backup before making any changes. Before you modify a partition, make sure that the partition does not have an active Ipicuro.

The above is the solution to the error of adding local disk to ESXI5.5. The editor believes that there are some knowledge points that we may see or use in our daily work. I hope you can learn more from this article. For more details, please follow the industry information channel.
