The above problems will occur as long as Sybase ASE 12.5.x and 15 are installed in glibc 2.4 and above.

The solution is to set the environment variable LD_POINTER_GUARD.

On Redhat: export LD_POINTER_GUARD=0

On Suse 10: export LD_POINTER_GUARD=1.

What is the purpose of LD_POINTER_GUARD? the search says that LD_POINTER_ is an indicator of memory problems between different versions of glibc. This problem will be resolved in the future without the need to switch on and off LD_POINTER_GUARD.

Then re-build the library, if you report an error, build the library by hand.

$/ bin/srvbuild-r sqlsrv.res

For example: / opt/sybase/sdb/ASE-12_5/bin/srvbuild-r / opt/sybase/sdb/ASE-12_5/sqlsrv.res

JVM not found

During installation-is:javahome will be fine, for example

. / setup-console-is:javahome / opt/sybase/sdc/sybase_setup/JVM
