One is the X300 graphics card, the other is the wireless network card.

Under ubuntu, the configuration of X 300 graphics card cost me a lot of work. Although it was finally installed correctly. But it still crashes frequently. The problem has not been solved. So ubuntu and kubuntu were completely abandoned a few days after I installed them. Then I tried to install fedora8,opensuse,opensolaris,centos and so on. All of them are not very satisfactory. Under fedora8, although the wireless network card is correctly identified, it cannot connect to the wireless network. Under opensolaris, wireless cards are not recognized. Centos is the same. Configure the kernel to crash centos twice. It makes me cold. . I dare not pretend any more.

Above are the ISO image files I collected. Because the optical drive is not very good. And it is faster to install from the hard drive. So I always choose hard disk installation. After comparing the various operating systems mentioned above, I chose the more gorgeous OpenSUSE. I encountered a lot of inexplicable problems in its hard disk installation. But after N attempts, I finally put it together.

Here I will introduce the process of hard disk installation. It is convenient to reinstall and consult later, hoping to provide some convenience to friends who want to install the hard disk.

The operating system is a linux release funded by Novell with a gorgeous interface. But the performance is stable, in IBM T 43, can identify the hardware. No additional configuration is required. But it is more troublesome in the process of installation. It will be explained in detail later. Let's first introduce the process of hard disk installation:

1. Dwarf DOS toolbox.

2.Grub for dos

3.OpenSUSE 10.3DVD installation image.

XP installation openSUSE extracts the grldr and menu.lst from the grub for dos package to the C disk root directory.

III. XP installation openSUSE opens the menu.lst file and adds the following at the end of the file:

Root (hd0,0)

Kernel (hd0,0) / linux notice that there is a space between kernel and the left parenthesis

Initrd (hd0,0) / initrd ditto

Then save and exit.

four。 It is recommended to put the OpenSUSE CD image file under a non-ntfs partition. Although it is recognizable, it is not recommended. I encountered this kind of problem during the installation process. An error occurred when the installation and configuration work was carried out. I put the image in the root directory of C disk here. And unlock the compression. Put it in the opensuse folder. (hint, it doesn't matter whether you solve it or not. But I don't want any more problems. Hehe.)

Then find the linux and initrd files in the following path to the image: C:\ openSUSE\ boot\ i386\ loader

five。 Change windows's system hidden files to not be hidden. Then find the boot.ini file under the root of C disk. Right-click the property and tick off the read-only. Open the file and add the following at the bottom: C:\ grldr= "Install OpenSUSE"

six。 Restart the system. Select "Install OpenSUSE" to enter the installation interface.
