AMD decided to produce a 64-bit server CPU based on ARM technology. Since then, AMD has embarked on a road to end the old era. In the past two decades, the era of computing dominated by one processor in the data center will come to an end. With the proliferation of new Internet-related devices and new business models, data centers are now the center of the world. The new workload puts forward a lot of requirements for the server architecture, forcing us to accelerate the pace of innovation. The computing power of the world's largest data center is increasing rapidly, and the market is looking for breakthrough ways to increase the efficiency of the data center and reduce the total cost of ownership. Small and efficient CPU such as ARM CUP gives data center strong performance. Compared with the large core CPU, the computing cost and energy efficiency of ARM CPU have been greatly improved, making it an ideal choice for performing highly parallel tasks. However, the challenge for efficient CPU is that they need to connect to the network. However, if every efficient CPU can be connected to the network, then the operational efficiency will be greatly reduced. With its unique advantages, AMD can solve this problem well and promote the development of the industry. Through the acquisition of SeaMicro, AMD has a leading AMD SeaMicro Freedom ™structure in the industry. Using the Freedom structure to connect the ARM CPU to the cluster, and then the cluster to the network, AMD can effectively solve the thorny problem of using small and efficient CPU in the future super data center. Although many companies are talking about 64-bit ARM in servers, only AMD has relevant background experience and expertise in ARM 64-bit ecosystem development.
