Delete documents / music / videos in the Win10 file manager

When you open this computer under Windows 10, in addition to the disk letter, six folders will be displayed in the top half of Explorer. These six folders, like six walnuts, are useful to some people and useless to others. Some children's shoes with obsessive-compulsive disorder are unbearable. Here's how to delete these folders.

Environment: Windows10 Professional Edition

Open the registry and locate the following location:

Computer\ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ MyComputer\ NameSpace

Find the appropriate key value to delete (backup is a good habit):

Delete the downloads folder:

[- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ MyComputer\ NameSpace {088e3905-0323-4b02-9826-5d99428e115f}]

Delete the Pictures folder:

Delete the Music folder:

Delete the documents folder:

[- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ MyComputer\ NameSpace {d3162b92-9365-467a-956b-92703aca08af}]

Delete the videos folder:

[- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ MyComputer\ NameSpace {f86fa3ab-70d2-4fc7-9c99-fcbf05467f3a}]

Delete the Desktop folder:

-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ MyComputer\ NameSpace {B4BFCC3A-DB2C-424C-B029-7FE99A87C641}]

Delete the OneDrive in the Win10 file manager

I believe you rarely use OneDrive, but there is an OneDrive that comes with WIN10 and always shows how to remove it in the left side of Explorer, as follows.

Methods / steps

Win+R is open and running

Enter regedit enter to open the registry editor

Find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ CLSID {018D5C66-4533-4307-9B53-224DE2ED1FE6}\ ShellFolder

Find Attributes on the right and double-click to change its value to f090004d

Delete the quick access in the Win10 file manager

1. Windows10's "Quick access" feature is of little personal use to me, so as a tumultuous person, I decided to try to remove the "Quick access" sidebar completely.

Note: this action needs to make sure that you have set [Click the File Explorer icon on the Win10 taskbar to open "this computer" instead of "Quick access"]

2. Open the Registry Manager regedit

Navigate to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ CLSID {679f85cb-0220-4080-b29b-5540cc05aab6}\ ShellFolder

3. Modify the permissions of the ShellFolder folder

Problems may be encountered here in modifying permissions

A, select "Advanced"

B. Change the owner

C. Enter the user name, for example: john

D, click "check name"

E. Modify permissions

We need to change the permissions of the Administrators group to "full control". After changing the permissions to "full control", we change the numerical data of the Attributes value in the right window from a0100000 to a0600000. Then close the Registry Editor.

4. Restart the computer
