Problem

Domino console is inundated with the entry "Process C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\belnapi.exe has terminated abnormally"

Error

Process C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\RAWS\belnapi.exe has terminated abnormally

Cause

The above entries in Lotus Domino Console are not harmful and do not affect backups/restores. The default settings listed in the solution below allow for faster, more accurate scanning of the Domino Databases and in some cases with a very active Domino Server, large numbers of databases, or large sized databases, these settings need to be turned off to prevent errors from occurring.

Solution

To prevent these entries from appearing in the console follow the steps below:

Open the Registry Editor (Click Start > Run > type regedit) on the Domino Server.

Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.Browse to the following path:

HKLM\Software\Symantec\Backup Exec for Windows\Backup Exec\Engine\DominoChange the "Enable Notes Database Filtering" and "Enable Change Journal" DWORD values to 0.Exit out of the Registry Editor console.Reboot the Domino Server.
