MongoDB on Azure: how to choose the correct instance type?
Original English text:

Azure is now a popular platform for deploying and managing MongoDB servers. Once you choose Azure as the platform for MongoDB, one of the first things you need to decide is to choose the type of instance that needs to be deployed. Fortunately in this case, Azure is simpler than AWS. Azure basically provides three instance types.
1. A series
Series A provides general purpose examples suitable for most loads. They are available in a variety of sizes from 0.75GB to 56GB. In Series A, there are two options-basic and Standard. The basic version costs less but does not provide load balancing, automatic scaling, etc. The most important difference from a database perspective is that the Azure disk (page block) of the "basic" version of the instance is limited to 300IOPS/disk, while the "standard" version of the instance you can reach 500IOPS/disk. This can make a big difference, especially if you use RAID disks in larger instances. We recommend using the "standard" version of the machine, as long as possible to take advantage of the enhanced Ipicuro. The number of disks attached to the VM depends on the size of the VM. You can have up to 16 disks on the A7 machine. More details can be found here-Virtual machine sizes for Azure.
2. D series / DS series
D-Series instances provide better performance than Series A-especially better CPU and local SSD instances. Local SSD disks on Azure will give you better disk performance. However, it is called "local" for a reason. The data on these disks is temporary-if your VM stops running for any reason, you will lose all the data on the disk. Therefore, the local SSD should not be used for the primary storage device. The DS series is more interesting from a data perspective because it is the only instance type that supports high-quality storage. Quality storage, as the name implies, provides enhanced disk IOPS based on disk size. If possible, try to use quality storage for all your data disks. Consult Premium storage overview for more details.

3. G series
This is the "Warcraft" series, which offers a huge amount of RAM (up to 448GB) and local SSD. If you can afford it, the series provides the best performance. At this point, G-Series instances are only available in West US and East US data centers.
