Sony unveiled its TV lineup in 2021, which will include a new processor called cognitive processor XR, which is the successor to Sony's long-running X1 series chips. The cognitive processor XR will be used in five new TV series-- Sony Z9J main series, X95J and X90J LED LCD TVs, and two OLED models A80J and A90J-and all models will be equipped with better upgrades, better color reproducibility and enhanced contrast, which will be the biggest driving force of the new A90J OLED technology. Because it may be the first organic light-emitting diode with a peak brightness of more than 1000 nits.

In an interview with TechRadar, a Sony representative explained that the new A90J has a revolutionary new cooling system that allows televisions to use both RGB and white sub-pixels at maximum power, creating brighter spots in HDR content supported by XR processors.

Sony said the result was brighter images, saying that the overall brightness and color volume would exceed that of any OLED TV in previous years.

Most of the upgrades to Sony TV's product line this year can be divided into three categories: new Cognitive XR processors and improved panels, and upgrades from the previous Android TV to the new Google TV platform.

Sony said that in terms of picture improvement, the Cognitive XR processor in the LCD-LED TV will enable the new XR contrast function, increase the black level, and both organic light emitting diodes and LED-LCD TVs will improve movement fluency. Tricolor Pro and XR use AI magnification super resolution.

To enhance sound, the 2021 series will use XR surround sound, which converts dual-channel or 5.1-channel surround sound into immersive 5.1.2-channel sound.

Add a new Google TV platform that puts content rather than apps first, and you should have enough programs to watch on the improved new TV.

In other words, there is no doubt that the A90J OLED and Sony Z9J Master series will be very expensive (Sony's current master OLED line is priced at $2,299.99), but Sony says Cognitive XR processors will reach the product lineup. 50-inch X90J LED LCD TV-which means it should be a cheap entry point for those who can't afford two TVs.
